Ode to Flats

February 17, 2012

O’ flat, we receive with no warning

Shattered glass, lost screw, broken dream

O’ flat, your hissing signals our mourning

Stabbing thorn blissfully stuck on the seam

Plastic lever out, wedged beneath our tire

Grease covered, plans deferred, beyond repair

O’ flat, beloved cylindrical O no longer are you

Improved puncture resistance? You liar!

Darkness sets in, rain falls, too tired to care

O’ flat, why was it today that I forgot my other shoe?
